Pre-buy for 20% off and get three free rentals during the season
Why pre-buy? These kayaks are in demand and we will not have any left by October. Pre-buying ensures that you will get one. The price will not change - in October sale price will be 20% off, no free rentals. NOTE: kayaks do not depreciate like other goods, they hold their value and are virtually indestructible.

2010 Models
Older Stock (no free rentals)
Kayaks and SUPs hardly depreciate - making this a great deal. Ordinarily I don't sell off the fleet at the end of the season, but there is such a demand for used equipment (and storage is a pain) that I'm giving it a go this year. Equipment is sold 'as is', expect wear and tear. If you are not happy with the equipment on pick-up day, your card will be refunded less a $50 holding fee. Sound good?
COME DOWN TO THE STORE AND TRY THEM OUT - 1/2 HOUR FREE RENTAL IF YOU BUY SAME DAY.

SUPATX boards are manufactured in the same facility as Laird by Surftech, and sport many of the same features. Downunder will have 10 x 11'-12' boards available for purchase at the end of July 2010. Priced at $785 these are an amazing deal. The paddles are $145. Read up on these boards here.
Our pre-buy plan for used boards and paddles is as follows:
$116 SUPATX Carbon fiber paddles or Cannon Adjustable Carbon.
Reserve yours now and be sure you have one at the end of the season, or take your chances in October - and lose the free rentals.

Ocean Kayak Scrambler 11. XL & XT are longer. Scrambler basic comes without additional bungees, seat and hatch.

Hobie Maui Kayak - Downunder's models are red.

Kayak Transportation Kits
There are many contraptions out there for carrying kayaks on top of your car, and if you want to research them I suggest visiting the Small Boat Shop in South Norwalk or the Outdoor Sports Center in Wilton. The basic block and strap kit works fine for Sit on Tops - 2 straps and 2 foam blocks, we sell these at the store. $9.95 ea. For sea kayaks you'd want fore and aft lines. NRS has a great kit for this, retails for around $60, and you can get from SBS or OSC (above). Something more sophisticated would be the j bar. Check out Thule. I have the Hullaport Pro to carry my sea kayaks, and the rack pads for stand-up paddleboards, with pad separators.
Trolleys
Most kayaks are too heavy to carry on your own. Get a C-Tug. $179.

The C-TUG kayak trolley is designed and manufactured in New Zealand. It is unlike any other trolley on the market today. Made of non -corroding material, pneumatic tires, and stainless steel reinforced axles, this trolley can be used on rugged and soft terrains to get you paddling in places you dreamed of. C-TUG then dismantles to stow in your canoe or kayak hatch to take to your next destination.
